Description
Mitiku Yabato, Ethiopia. In 2013, Mitiku Yabato began cultivating the 74158 and 74110 varietals on his farm in Bombe village, based in the Bensa district of Sidamo. For years, he sold his carefully harvested red and dried cherries to the local market- but the returns never matched the quality of his product. When Ethiopia revised its coffee export regulations in 2018, smallholders were finally allowed to export their coffee directly- bypassing the exchange and large intermediaries. This change opened new doors for Mitiku, who obtained his own export license.
