Description
South Sudan, Nzara and Yambio County. Despite being home to wild coffee for decades, South Sudan only exported coffee for the first time in 2015. Years of conflict and instability meant that much of its coffee sector was abandoned, farms destroyed and knowledge lost along the way. Now, new initiatives are helping to rebuild the industry from the ground up, working with smallholder farmers and reintroducing coffee as a sustainable source of income. It’s early days, but that’s exactly what makes South Sudan so exciting! The coffee we’re roasting at Quantum Coffee Roasters comes from Nzara and Yambio County in Western Equatoria.
