Description
Chai, in India known as Masala Chai or masala tea, is a seriously flavoursome: made from a strong black tea, such as Assam, a blend of pungent spices (a masala) and milk. It is a warming and, as said by many Indians, revitalising drink. Chai is a very big subject in India and it is said every family has their own unique recipe for the masala used to blend with the black tea. In the West we use the term 'Chai Lattè' to indicate the spiced black tea liquor is mixed with steamed milk in the same way as the very popular café latte.
